ABOUT ME

Kevin Gorton is a UK based photographic artist who explores the creative process and various techniques of intentional camera movement (ICM) to create images that capture the essence of stillness within movement.​​​​

Focusing on the natural world, he blurs the distinction between "capture" and "create", specialising in creating timeless images of the ocean, sky, and natural landscape.

In my own words:

 

I love photography, I love how creative I can get with a camera as a tool, and letting my observational intuition lead me to images that communicate a feeling, or the often dream-like memory of a feeling.  I love capturing the simplicity of a moment, the stillness within the motion - it's beautiful.

I came to photography as an expression of the beauty and sense of awe I felt in nature.  Over time this has become a meditation, it brings me deeply into the present moment, into presence, through which an authentic connection with the experience is made.

​​

So much of modern life is mundane and overlooked, endlessly distracted, we miss the simplicity and beauty.  Photography has taught me to pay attention, to look beyond the superficial and tune in to the exquisite nature of seemingly ordinary moments.​

 

My intention is always to move beyond capturing ascetically pleasing images in the pursuit of creating meaningful work – this is an exploration and a journey, and I hope you will join me.
